Australia is full of unique and rare birds, including many big & colourful varieties from the parrot family. We (Chris & I) are blessed to have many of these visit our home every morning & afternoon.
One of the most celebrated of these (but somewhat of a pest!) is the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo. To assist with directional signage and as part of your rally routes, the iconic Cockatoo with be at each major intersection where you need to make a direction decision. The one to the right for straight ahead, the one on the top right hand corner of the web page to turn left and the opposite to turn right.
Check out this character we come across in a pub in Tocumwal on the way to Bendigo Swap

Frequently Asked Questions
How many km (miles) per day? Tour routes are yet to be finalised however "ball park" - between 40km (25 miles) for the shake down tour to 140 (85 miles) for the long day to Orange, the average being 70-80km (45-50 miles) per day. There will be minimal town driving and the opportunity to get the vehicles rolling down the road, with some additional miles for those who would like them.
Do I need to bring a car if I'm an international visitor? We are expecting between 50-70 International visitors, and about 25- 40% of these with vehicles. There will be opportunities to be a "swaggie" and we will attempt to make sure everyone is catered for.
How far is Bathurst from Sydney? Bathurst is about 200km (125 miles) due west of Sydney over the Blue Mountains.
Will I see a Kangaroo? Kangaroos are prevalent pretty well everywhere in country Australia. If you wish to see, feed and pat a Kangaroo or any other of the many unique Australia animals please see the International visitor page for detail on Feather Dale Wildlife Park.
How much are air fares from the USA to Sydney? Air fares depend on where you are flying from and when you book them. We travel to the US regularly from Sydney for Tours, Swaps & HCCA Board meetings. I find booking flights about 6-10 weeks out provides the best deals @ about $A1000 ($US700) - $A1200 ($US900) "economy". Booking all the internal flights on one ticket provides the best deal and generally includes 2 bags on all flights however this depends on the carrier.
What is the International entry process?
Australian has both Border protection and quarantine that must be passed to enter the country. It is best to ensure that you do not have any goods that may provide a Bio-security risk and the general rule is "if in doubt declare" then Border Security and Quarantine can advise you if the goods are permissible or not.
Can I purchase a car in Australia and then sell it? The short answer is Yes, however you need to decide what car and how much use you will get and probably consider the issue of spare parts if you need them?
Accommodation at Bathurst? Please see the accommodation page for details on Rally Headquarters (Rydges Hotel on Conrod Straight and a link to book rooms), and also for details on other Hotels B & B's camping, RV parking etc.
If I transport a car what is the process? I have detailed a lot of this on the International Visitor Info page, if you have specific questions on cost etc please email me direct.
Asbestos? There has been a lot of internet coverage on Australia's clamp down on asbestos in vehicles. I have covered a lot of this in the International Visitor Info page.
When will the entry form be available? I intend to have the 3rd newsletter & entry form available early September 2018, please note entries will be limited to 200 for catering proposes.
